Health & Safety: Cambridge Live’s Big Weekend
Background
Big Weekend is one of Cambridge’s best-loved free outdoor events funded by Cambridge City Council and organised by Cambridge Live. The event welcomed thousands across the three days showcasing an array of big acts such as Craig Charles and Doctor and the Medics alongside local talent, a French market, children’s entertainment area, sports zone, dance marquee, food stalls and a firework display.
OPS supported the Cambridge Live team to delivery health and safety over the build, live and break days.
Challenge and Solution
There was concern over the segregation of pedestrian traffic as Cambridge has a large population of cyclists whose routes often cross the entrance and exits to the site. The team implemented and ran a temporary pedestrian crossing to ensure the safety of attendees.
