Operations and Health & Safety: Lost In A Moment at Tofte Manor

Background

In July 2022, Tofte Manor, a stunning 17th century manor house in the heart of the UK countryside, hosted Lost In A Moment by Innervisions, the first time the brand had returned to the UK in three years. With music across two stages, the festival featured some of the most exciting current artists and producers at a magical open-air venue within the natural beauty of the countryside.

OPS supported We Are The Fair by offering a range of safety services, from SAG attendance and pre-event documentation, to supplier auditing and on-site safety.

Challenges

• Pre-opening, OPS were faced with challenges regarding the mojo barrier on the main stage. The barrier was supplied on a ‘dry hire’ basis and due to the positioning of the stage, the uneven ground it was set to be installed on raised some concerns. There was also the time pressure of opening on time, which meant OPS, alongside The Fair, had to find a quick and effective solution. Due to the hard work of the team, a safe solution was found, with only a slight delay to opening doors.

• Representatives from Bedford Borough Council were very visible on site during the live event and egress, and so it was extremely important for OPS to build a positive working relationship with them.

• For various reasons, including the shortage of taxis, various challenges arose at the PUDO during egress. However, by redeploying security and traffic management staff and utilising the shuttle buses to Bedford Station, we were able to ensure all attendees left site safely.
