Houghton is a music & arts festival set in the Norfolk countryside, celebrated for its eclectic line-ups showcasing the best names on the electronic music scene.
The festival, curated by Fabric owner Craig Richards, invites over 200 artists to play for up to 10,000 attendees across the weekend, with music starting on Thursday, and running non-stop for 24-hours each day from Friday to Sunday.
Following the success of our services in previous years, OPS returned to support the Houghton team throughout the planning and live stages of the event – working closely with the organisers, local authorities and land owners to ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Licensing Laws.
This involved producing detailed plans and risk assessments for the event, attending the SAG, and providing Event Safety Advisors to cover the site at all times.
24-hour site:The festival ran 24/7 from Friday morning until Monday morning, meaning 2 x Safety Advisors were required to operate on alternate shifts to ensure constant cover.
Stage closure and weather: The Quarry stage was sadly unable to open due to adverse weather conditions in the build up to the event. Working with the Houghton team, we worked with the client to ensure we could safely festival-goers between the other stages. We also carried out assessments of the site prior to Green for Doors to ensure the site was safe to open.
