Festival Health and Safety: Ever After Garden

Background

The Ever After Garden offers a space for people to pause, reflect and commemorate over the festive period. Over 30,000 roses light up Grosvenor Square.

Visitors are invited to dedicate a rose in memory of a loved one, with donations going to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

“The Ever After Garden was born out of the need to pay tribute to those we have lost during the year. It was an idea originally conceived with Camilla Morton in memory of Michael Howells and is named after the film for which he designed the sets. However this garden should be personal to everyone. For me, it is also in memory of my Aunt Elizabeth Hindmarch. My wish is for this to be a place to reflect at Christmas in amongst all the festive cheer, and in doing so raise money for the incredible institution that is The Royal Marsden.” – Anya Hindmarch, Ever after Garden Designer.

The OPS has been supporting this event for many years, delivering Health & Safety over the build, live and break days.

Challenges

  • Site visits: the OPS team agreed to carry out drop ins for the production team at the Ever After Garden. The Production Manager sometimes requested visits at short notice, and the OPS team were more than happy to remain flexible and provide services where required.
  • Suppliers: this was not a challenge, but quite the opposite – working on this event alongside the same contractors, production team and suppliers means everybody is familiar with each other on site, making processes seamless on site.
