Health & Safety: Gottwood

Background

After a two year absence due to the pandemic, Gottwood returned in 2022 to deliver it’s boutique woodland festival for its discerning clubbing audience. Featuring a line-up including Soichi, Terada, Move D, Helena Hauff and Radioactive Man.

Challenges

  • Since the last iteration of the festival, there had been some changes behind the scenes, with some of the owners of the festival moving on to pastures new. This meant there was a slight skills gap in the mix, as the knowledge of these former partners are now lacking. However, there remained some of the original team, and a new Experience Director joined the team.

  • The OPS team (having worked on the show since 2016) were able to take on a bigger role, rather than just providing Health and Safety services. For this year’s festival, we also provided an on-site Operations Manager, who worked alongside the Safety Advisor at all times during the live phases of the event.

  • Egress on the final day of this 4 day camping show has always been challenging (due to remote location, local road network, and budget constraints) however OPS worked with Gottwood and the SAG to ensure that this year, historical issues were eradicated. We implemented a ‘Stop/Go’ traffic system in the village, scheduled shuttle bus arrival/departure times and liaised with neighbours to ensure local parking was unaffected.
