Event Health & Safety: Training for clients
Background
The OPS team were approached by several clients looking to improve health & safety practices - at work and at their events. They were keen to upskill and empower their teams to prioritise and embed health & safety planning.
In response, we developed comprehensive training sessions designed to equip events, marketing, design, studio and account teams with the knowledge and confidence to advance health & safety. The OPS team tailored these training sessions to each client’s specific needs, before delivering them in person to teams across the UK.
Further to the training sessions, OPS also supported the businesses to create new processes and templates that support health and safety planning. This involved the creation of new bespoke templates such as Risk Assessments, Event /Activation Safety Management Plans, Construction Phase Plans and other relevant appendices - updating existing internal processes such as Standard Operating Procedures and event forms.
Challenges
· Tailoring our training sessions to meet the needs of each business, all with differing requirements
· Conveying what can be considered a very ‘dry subject’ into something inspirational - motivating attendees to act
· Finding relevant real-world examples tailored to each business to bring the topics to life
Delivery
· Creating three bespoke training sessions to suit the needs of three unique businesses
· Delivering five in-person training sessions
· Designing new event safety templates including Risk Assessments, Event/Activation Safety Management Plans, Crowd Management Plans and CDM Construction Phase Plans
Results
· Great feedback from all teams, who really enjoyed the sessions
· Reported uplift in engagement and support for health & safety across the businesses
· A better understanding of health & safety, as reported by teams, as well as an increased awareness of how they are involved and what they can do
· Based on the feedback received from the training sessions, the OPS team were requested to create an additional training session tailored to one of the Senior Leadership Teams, focusing on their specific roles and responsibilities regarding health & safety
