Event Health & Safety, Operations and Licensing: In It Together

Background

In It Together is fast becoming one of the UK’s most ambitious events. Having worked with Climax and Full Fat Events across their portfolio of festivals (Escape, Party At The Park and Inside Out) since 2019, and supporting In It Together since its first year in 2022, OPS was requested to provide health & safety, operations and licensing services at the event this year.

For 2025, the event scaled up significantly with support from the We Are OPS team, maintaining our strong partnership from multiple years of collaboration.

So, in addition to our existing festival operations, documentation and health & safety services – during the advancing period and on site – we applied and successfully obtained a new premises licence for the client. This licence will enable the festival to increase in capacity year-on-year up to 50,000, cementing its place as Wales’ largest festival.

The festival, which takes place at Old Park Farm in Port Talbot, welcomed a wealth of musical talent. Headliners included indie-rock icons Kaiser Chiefs, powerhouse vocalist Becky Hill, and pop legend Ronan Keating. Other acts included The Sugarhill Gang, Daniel Bedingfield, James Morrison, SHY FX, and more. Emerging artists and local Welsh talent also graced the stages, contributing to the festival’s dynamic atmosphere.

Challenges

  • Site Expansion: The festival footprint grew substantially in 2025. We supported the operational shift as the site expanded into new areas, repurposing additional land for campsites and parking. This required a new traffic management plan, which we developed for the team. Unlike previous years where all arrivals came from the east, we introduced split-site entry via both east and west, improving traffic flow and guest experience.
  • High Winds: Forecasted and on-site wind conditions required proactive mitigation. We worked closely with the site crew and production leads, monitoring weather via anomometers and forecasts, and swiftly deploying action plans. These included removing scrim from perimeter fencing, installing additional structural bracing, ongoing risk assessments and contingency planning.
  • High-Energy Crowds: Certain performances triggered intense audience activity, leading to controlled show stops. We managed these calmly and effectively in collaboration with security – allowing  performances to continue when appropriate to do so without compromising safety.
