Event Health & Safety / Training: TRO

Background

TRO, a global experiential marketing agency, contacted our team to find out more about our event operation and health & safety services.

Initially, we were onboarded to review existing company health & safety processes ensuring these continued to meet legislation and enable TRO to deliver safe and successful activation at the highest standards. We act as an extension of TRO’s team, ensuring that all elements of their events and activations are planned and delivered safely, while giving them the freedom to focus on the creative elements and deliver a memorable experience.

This year, we supporting TRO in delivering UEFA Europa League and Champions League activations in the heart of London and Dublin, for brands including Just Eat, Pepsi. The activations transformed Trafalgar Square into a life-size football playground for the UEFA Champion League Fan Festival 2024, with visitors enjoying a range of activities including a range of gaming activations.

This led to OPS providing documentation and on-site safety services for more TRO clients, including BMW and Under Armour, as well as health and safety training for the TRO team.

 Challenges

  • Managing seven activations simultaneously is a balancing act: our team had a vast range of stakeholders to liaise with, multiple suppliers to audit, and a multitude of health and safety documentation to review.

  • Like any campaign, flexibility and adaptability are essential components. The nature of our role working with leading governing bodies such as UEFA sometimes led to our team being briefed with short notice, while still under strict deadlines. 

  • Brands naturally want to create the best possible events that showcase their work, but what they consider last minute ‘tweaks’ can have significant implications for event health and safety. Our work has therefore involved delivering the best possible events for TRO and their clients, while managing expectations and ensuring changes can happen safely and legitimately.
